Summer is in full swing and if you are thinking about starting a new routine now that the sun is shining, then you've got the right idea. But before stepping outside, here are a couple of things to consider:
Address any injuries, aches, or pains before starting a new fitness regime. That sore shoulder isn't going to magically get better and new workouts have the potential to make things worse. Consult with your doctor or physical therapist about any pain that is keeping you from being active.
Set some goals…and at first, they don't have to be big. Challenging yourself to accomplish small goals, like jogging once a week, can help build up confidence and the right habits to make it a daily routine.
See what's going on in your community. Consult your town's parks and recreation web page for some activities going on around you. Who knows, you may decide to compete in your first 5k or try a yoga class. It's a great way to stay active and meet new people!
